What GovCon processes do you want to automate?

My Work enables you to automate departmental and cross-organizational processes.  The graphic below tells the story for GovCon organizations.

Typically, GovCon organizations have a set of core applications such as business development, proposal management, contract management, human resources.  These applications often run on SharePoint.  There are also multiple departments that participate in various processes and have their own SharePoint sites and often use other external applications such as Finance and HR.

My Work gets dropped into your SharePoint environment.  It connects to these applications, departments, and resources and enables you to define processes that cut across the organization.  It provides users with a single place to go to get their work done.

So, the key question becomes what processes do you want to automate?  Below we list 12 common processes that relate to the solutions that R3 provides – IDIQ Task Order Management, Capture and Proposal Management and Program Management.  There are many more for you to consider.  A key aspect of the processes below is that they rely on people doing quality work.  These are not transactional processes.  The process is really a way to structure the flow of the work.  Success relies on people making informed decisions and doing quality work.

My Work for GovCon

A Few Things to Consider

  • With My Work it is pretty simple to define a process and implement it. It is also practically instantaneous to roll it out and get people participating since there is one common user interface across processes.  So, if the cost and time is very small to put a process in place, it makes sense to prototype it, let’s some users use it, and gain alignment.
  • Bigger is not necessarily better.  Since the cost to create a process and roll it out are low with My Work, it makes sense to also address small processes that can add significant value particularly in tracking activity in the audit log.
  • An enlightening question to ask is which processes would you like to know how the decisions got made.  My Work provides visibility into the process while it is happening and an audit log with comments.
  • Don’t make your process to hard-wired.  My Work supports flexibility.  All parts of the process don’t have to fully automated.  There is plenty of room for people to do their jobs.  The process is there to provide the structure, the visibility, the information that people need to make informed decisions, and, the audit trail of what got done.
  • Think through what information people will need at their fingertips to make informed decisions and get their work done.  The Record Views in My Work will serve this up to the users.  It is a powerful capability of My Work and one not often found in pure workflow tools.
